Panel | Restoring trust in Africa's messaging ecosystem

11 Sep 2025
Radisson Blu - Mount Kenya Ballroom, Floor 1
Voice, messaging & customer experience

Amid rapid growth in voice and messaging, Africa’s messaging ecosystem faces a pressing challenge; trust is eroding. While aggregators have benefited from increasing traffic, a growing proportion of this stems from spam, scam and fraudulent messages that harm customers and end-users, jeopardising the long-term sustainability of the sector. This panel addresses the current trust deficit, how to realign commercial incentives, and what collaborative mechanisms are needed to drive enforcement, transparency, and quality of service

  • Identifying fraud in messaging networks and how the industry is contributing to the problem

  • What impact is this having on enterprise, mobile operator and hyperscale brands, and the impact on their confidence in business messaging

  • Can commercial models be realigned to disincentivise fraud?

  • What industry-wide initiatives and collaborations can help drive progress and identify fraudulent activity?
